Geophysics

It is a very useful tool in environmental investigations focused on the identification of buried waste, definition of the lithology and fracturing of the soil and rock associated with pollution, understanding of the heterogeneity of the subsoil and identification of saturated strata.

It is important to highlight that as an indirect method of research, it must be corroborated with direct field information; However the correlation of both allows the specialist more appropriate decision-making to meet and understand the problems of contamination of a site. In CAM, according to the type of research that is being developed, we can implement different geophysical methods. These methods have shown by previous experiences, having a cost efficient manner and the disruption of the site where they are implemented.

Electrical methods:
Vertical electrical surveys (BSS) allow us to understand and correlate rock strata, aquifers and the possible geological faults of the subsoil (considerable depth).

The Geo radar is an excellent method for the determination of buried waste, drums, tanks, cisterns and pipelines.

The magneto metric method is very important to identify steel structures or buried metal fragments.

In CAM, we also have the ability to investigate geo physically perforated polls or previously installed wells, through the use of a tube connected to an electronic system (SYSTEM VI) which measures the physical properties of rocks, such as electrical resistance, resistivity of rock (short, deep and lateral), resistivity of natural radioactivity, temperature, fluid and natural potential (SP).

With the information obtained in these geophysical studies the geologists, geo hydrologist, chemicals and Geophysicists involved, get better understanding of the conditions of the subsoil of the contaminated sites.
